Default 2012 Horizon Off-Road Showdown at US Air Meet

2012 Horizon Off-Road Showdown at US Air Meet

The Horizon Hobby Off-Road Showdown will take place September 6-9 at the newly constructed track located at the Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport in Sanford, Maine.

The race will be held in conjunction with the first ever Horizon US Air Meet, a unique event that will showcase the talents of some of the top radio controlled drivers and pilots in the world. Thousands of spectators are expected to attend this interactive festival that will allow them to explore the fun and excitement of radio controlled hobbies. Spectators will also be encouraged to participate in the fun by flying planes and helicopters or driving cars in the many Horizon Hobby “Try Me” areas.

The Horizon Hobby Off-Road Showdown track is being specifically constructed for this event and will incorporate multiple layouts optimized for 1/8-scale nitro and 1/10-scale electric racing.

We are pleased to announce that internationally renowned announcer Scotty Ernst will be the Race Director for this incredible event. In addition, Team Losi Racing factory drivers Mike Truhe and Dustin Evans will be on hand visiting with fans and spectators, supporting racers and competing in the weekend activities.

Friday will consist of a full day of practice. The first of three qualifying rounds begins on Saturday morning, with mains scheduled for Sunday. Classes include 1/8-Scale Nitro Buggy, 1/8-Scale Nitro Truggy, 1/10-Scale 4WD Short Course, 1/10-Scale Modified Short Course, 1/10-Scale Stock Short Course and 1/10-Scale Stock Buggy. The entry fee is $50 for the first class and $35 for each additional. Entries will be limited to the first 200 registered drivers.

Racers are also invited to attend an on-site banquet Saturday night that will feature an incredible menu with steak and lobster for the main course.  A full menu and pricing is available on-line.

To be a part of this exciting race, go to www.usairmeet.com and fill out the driver registration.  A confirmation packet will be mailed to you within a few weeks with additional event information.

We look forward to seeing you there.
