Lately ive noticed a few of the local car guys getting into rc aircraft(especially quadcopters). The quad bug seems to be biting the most with the car guys out here,No doubt traxxas saw the opportunity early on like a lot of us and added a couple aircraft to there line up. Quads are a lot easier to fly for most than a collective pitch heli or 3d balsa plane and they can take quite a bit of abuse with little or no damage, especially the smaller quads. Currently there are quite a few rtf mini and micro quads out there and ive flown a few of them. Currently i have a eflite blade mqx but plan to build or buy a larger quad in the future. So how many others have tried or want to try a quadcopter?
Seen the traxxas quad the other day at the LHS

Yeah, I'm a multirotor guy and I'm just getting started in Rock Crawlers. Don't know jack about crawlers yet. ButI can build a pretty neat quad. My last was a Hexopter and a tricopter. Anyways I just bought a Red Cat Rock Slide 1/8 scale crawler. Right now all I've done is run it through the house. So howdy from SC.

Ive noticed some aircraft guys getting into cars as well. Quads are all the rage now and with traxxas having a micro quad and heli im sure more car guys will dabble a bit with aircraft. I mostly fly epp foamie planes these days when it comes to aircraft.. there really ideal for car guys and bashers to get started with planes but eventually id like to build a quad or flying wing for fpv flying.

I like the EPP foamies too. I have 3 Twisted Hobbys planes. Same size and type as yours. They are a blast to fly. I'm not as good as you but I do love it.

Made it to the track recently and did some flying. Was fun to watch these guys mess around with the little traxxas quad.
I flew a plane and some other things
Caught a break in the weather and flew in the yard.. then got another flight inside when it got windy.

I am hopelessly addicted to aerial platforms.
I have around 10 multi rotors and they keep getting bigger. The dude with the hat is Nerdbot 2 and the X8 is a new rig I'm working on as we speak. The X8 will be able to tote a 5lb+ DLSR for 15 - 20 min on 12,000 MHa of 6S!! Everything I fly is on HoverFly Pro boards.. they are amazing. |

You have it bad for sure.. 10+ quads. Im still having fun with the mqx and have flown some of the other popular micro quads out there but will be building my first 450 quad this month hopefully. No dslr or anything but hoping i can fit the flip HD cam on it,not ready to sell my baja yet to make a down payment on anything like those camera rigs your running
. Some of the local car guys i know got the quad bug to so it should make for some interesting video this spring and summer.More fun then the epp planes have been this winter in the yard with the wind and cold

Yes it is. I'm starting a new tri-copter build. Never seem to get the yaw control setup just right. This time it'll be different I just know it and I'll never have to build another one. This is my last one. I can stop any time I want to. Yes I can.

Im really digging the tri copters, scratch built a small one. Brought it with to show some guys at the local shop and see what size heli skids they had that would fit it. Heres some video shot at the shop when i did a quick demo flight with it,let them fly it to and they liked it. Props are not even balanced and the board could still be dialed in a bit more.
