A little 80's old school pick-up action from Tamiya

The new Tamiya Landfreeder is based on the popular CC-01 chassis in which many of Tamiya's other scale trucks are mated too. At first glance, you can tell that it is inspired by the look of a '80s pick-up truck. The body of this truck is newly designed and it's made of polycarbonate material for tough durability. To increase its scale realism, metal-plated parts for the front grille guard and rear roll bar are utilized. The all-terrain CC-01 chassis is built for fun and realistic trail running. The CC-01 chassis features independent front suspension and a rear solid axle with 4-link rigid suspension for true scale RC driving. It’s an ideal platform for RC enthusiasts who enjoy trail running at their favorite outdoor spot. It is available as a kit and requires some additional gear to get it completed.

I have long been a hacker of RC cars first hack (About 40 years ago) was turning an RC12 to an 049 nitro rocket. Then I scratch built a 1:18th Pan car using some slot car parts 1:16" fiberglass sheet and nylon. Now I would like to build a "Formula" car from the 60's either an Eagle or Lotus. What I need to find is a suitable front end. something that looks like it belongs on a formula car. The original idea came from finding this photo online:

Don't know what kind of model it was, looks like it might have been a tether car. Would love to get my hands on a transmission like that. Will probably go electric with an Associated style pod rear end, 17.5 turn Brushless motor, 2mm carbon fiber chassis, 2s Lipo and formula 1 slicks. Can someone help me with finding a front end?

A RTR SHORT COURSE TRUCK THAT DOES NOT NEED ANY IMMEDIATE UPGRADES!

The latest release from the gang at Losi is this sweet looking Tuff Country sponsored short course truck, the 1/10-scale 2WD XXX-SCT Brushless RTR.

It is a perfect combination of quality engineering and superior RTR (ready-to-run) performance. It is based off one of the most successful RC platforms in RC history and is loaded with advanced features. An impressive Dynamite 3300Kv brushless system is powered by an included, long-lasting 3000mAh LiPo battery and 10W balance charger. All this with a superior Spektrum DX2L radio system means the XXX-SCT delivers on the track or in your neighborhood.

Additionally, the XXX-SCT RTR is waterproof to help keep the action going regardless of the conditions. The XXX-SCT comes with a ROAR legal short course composite chassis with aluminum, threaded oil-filled shocks. Complimented by a licensed Tuff Country polycarbonate SCT body with a trim scheme found in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, this truck can handle the thrills of competition as well as the bruises associated with bashers.

To help compensate for the speed associated with brushless power, the XXX-SCT has been modified with off-road beadlock-style wheels and a realistic short course truck bumper and rear mud flaps.

Is there a way to put 2 batteries in a truck and run them on switches to go from one pack to the other. Only running one at a time. Kind of like having dual tanks on a 1:1 truck. I want to go on long runs without the hassle of stopping , pulling the body off to switch out a pack. I like the idea of having two hooked up but on switches to go from one pack to the other. I wanna set this up on my scaler ford super crew. Im running 8.4 v 5000 mAh packs and I could use the extra weight. And before anyone says " go with lipo's and you wont have that problem. Its just not an option.

hi I'm new to forums, but not new to RC cars I've had nitro ones in the past but selling up as they are too much of a pain to keep running, as they have limited run time and parts cost a small fortune.

I'm looking at getting two electric 1/10 RC off road cars from hobby king.

but i also want to get a 1/5 off road car which can deal with serious bashing
I'm looking a building the chassis myself as i know someone with a CNC laser cutter and adding the best parts from RC manufactures. but for motors what would people suggest using petrol or electric. id like to spend less than it cost to buy a Losi five T

is this a tad ambitious

Suggestions and comments please

Time for an update. Got the truck back together. Started working on the floor pans. Few pieces of styrene and some black paint , held on with water proof double sided tape. Got the electronics in. Took some time to tweak in the Red cat Racing 2.4 Ghz 3 channel. This radio system is rather slick. There is even a trim for the rear steer. Took it out for a quick test run. And my front servo mount just wasn't tuff enough. Broke one mount off the cross member and broke the ears off one side of the servo . Plus the stroke of the steering damper was off. I changed the ball end during reassembly because it was binding a little. I had to drain the 70 weight out of it and put in 30 weight cause it was a little too much for the servo. I also noticed where the bell crank was mounted was a weak spot as well. So I built a truss that covers all that mess and ties in the hold down screw from the upper link mount to where the bell crank mounts. After going through 3 stock Axial servo horns , I guess an upgrade is in the future. Started mocking up rock guards for my working lights and some for the ones on the body itself. Picked up the little bill organizer thing at the dollar store. Had some cool small wire mesh , and its plated. Got a chance to get it out for a drive after the fixes and it runs well. Other then when the Tx Is in mode 2 ( which should be to crab walk ) is in rear counter steer mode. Modes 2 and 3 have switched for some reason. Also , when I turn left , the Rx cuts out then comes back on. And only in that mode. Has 4 modes . Front steer, Crab walk, counter steer, and rear steer only, It was 11 at night so I got to try out the lights and they work great. Thinking I want to make some to mount under each corner for night crawling, Can't wait to get it out tomorrow during the day. The truck is still a little on the light side. Going to bring it to work and weigh it at some point. Really need to get back to finishing the rock sliders I started to make. Also hand fab some exhaust pipes out the back. This build has been fun , challenging and a great way to burn through time and money. But in the end the smile it puts on my face is worth it. Still more to come .
